Don't Quit in the Middle

READ
1 Chronicles 28:20

CONSIDER
After giving Solomon the instructions for the Temple, David sees the look of overwhelm on his son's face. He tells him, "Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you."

Following God with your whole life can feel daunting. We look at our old habits, our short tempers, or our past failures and think, "I’m no saint. I’m just a normal person." The beauty of God’s grace is that it isn't just a "safety net" for when we fall; it’s the "fuel" that helps us stand.

Total surrender sounds scary because it feels like you’re jumping off a cliff. You're actually jumping into the arms of a Father who has already promised to finish the work He started in you. He won't leave you or forsake you until the work of His temple—which is you—is complete. You don't have to be perfect today; you just have to be willing to take the next step with the One who is.

REFLECT
The spiritual life is a marathon, not a sprint. Faithfulness is found in "doing the work" of daily discipleship. God is committed to your growth more than you are. Trusting Him means believing that He is currently empowering you to live a life that looks more like Jesus today than it did yesterday...and more like Jesus tomorrow than it does today.

What is one way you can engage in faithful following today? One way to “do the work,” not because that earns you something, but because it’s embracing an opportunity for God’s inside-out work to manifest in your life.

PRAY
God, thank You for being with me in the big tasks and the small moments. Give me the courage to keep growing. Help me to trust that You are changing me, bit by bit, into someone who reflects Your light to my family and my community. Amen.
