We is Greater than Me

READ
Acts 16:10

CONSIDER
If you look closely at verse 10, the language shifts. It says, "After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once." This is where the author, Luke, joins the story. Paul doesn’t make this journey an exclusive, “Just me and Silas” deal. He allows himself to be open to whatever joiners God sends his way.

Following Jesus is never meant to be a solo sport. We are "perfected in love" largely through our relationships with others. It’s easy to think we’re holy when we’re alone in our homes, but the real test of character is how we treat our travel companions on the road of faith.

Growth happens in the context of our personal relationships with family and friends. It also happens in the context of the church—a group of people committed to helping one another stay on the path. When God calls you to a task, He almost always provides a "we" to help you carry it out.

REFLECT
We aren't just a collection of individuals; we are a body. Growth in Christlikeness happens best when we are accountable to one another. If you're trying to live a holy life on your own, you're missing out on the primary way God strengthens our resolve and corrects our mistakes.

Can you name at least three people you are accountable to for your spiritual growth? If you can’t, ask Jesus to show you trusted people you can be honest, open, and vulnerable with. These people will help spur you on to Christlikeness.

PRAY
Lord, thank You for my church family. Help me to be a better companion to those traveling with me, and teach us how to move together in one direction. Amen.
