Vision Board
A vision board is a tool to help clarify and maintain focus on a specific goal. You can download an app or use a site like Pinterest to create a vision board, or you can go old-school and use poster boards, magazine cutouts, and words to capture what you want to be, do, or have in life. It’s a safe bet that most people haven’t done the literal work of creating a vision board, but many of us have mental pictures of our hopes and goals. You might envision yourself with a better work/life balance, healthier relationships, or more financial margin. We can keep dreaming about these goals, or we can make them happen! God helping us, all these things are possible.
Pastor Craig Groeschel is known for saying, “sometimes, you have to say “no” to good things so you can say “yes” to the best things.” Find that work/life balance by setting boundaries on your schedule. Build healthier relationships by spending time with the people you love doing the things they love. Prioritize debt reduction or build your savings by eating out less or buying fewer seven-dollar lattes. The kingdom of heaven is the ultimate best thing because that’s where we experience life with Jesus! That’s why Jesus says, “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you, as well” (Matthew 6:33). Though, to be fair, I’m not sure “all these things” include seven-dollar lattes.
The first step is to have a vision. Imagine your life lived fully with Jesus. If you were living that life, how would you spend your days?
What would your pace of life be?
What would your relationship with God be like?
How would your other relationships look?
Whose life would God be using you to impact?
Take a moment to bring these questions to God in prayer. Then, use the provided space (or your computer, a journal, etc.) to create a vision board for your life.
Use words, drawings, and/or images to express what you truly desire in your relationship with God and others. You can make this as straightforward or as creative as you want. However you do it, keep in mind: Getting clear about your best life with Jesus is a crucial first step in the growth journey.
